Last and First Jobs of the Year
Suspect tank leak turns out to be a faulty pressure switch. Then the new pressure switch turns out to be faulty also, fun ensues.....

Its Turkey time! Icky cold room gets a new evaporator just in time to save Christmas!
Call Back Leak Repair
Просмотров 499Месяц назад
Few months back called to this system and found a broken suction line, replaced the section of pipe, also found system had been installed with plumbing solder! Fast forward a few months and customer reported the same fault, luckily this time it turned out to be the discharge line that had failed. Made up a new pipe with a loop to absorb the excess vibration when the compressor stops.
Mueller Crunch Corner

First and hopefully the last one of these I have changed! Took around four hours to get the old one off and the new one fitted. A bit of grease applied in the factory would have made this an hours job...
Serap Milk Silo Installation
Просмотров 5542 месяца назад
Recent 25,000L Silo install, It has an 8HP unit on the base and two 10HP units on the two side cooling plates which are controlled by a level sensor. I still had to finish charging the extra refrigerant to account for the longer pipe run, you have to add X grams a meter, so the cooling was probably a bit slow compared to standard.
Old Timer Still Doing a Days Work

Suspect the HP switch tripped last week during the summer, percussive maintenance got it to reset and a wash of the condenser hopefully will keep it running.

Found the vapouriser loop leak, made a new one, then found it struggling due to door gasket gaps.
Thanks Jim, Supco 88 Saves the Day!
Просмотров 1 тыс.7 месяцев назад
Fixed a leak on the liquid line then found the compressor siezing up, presumably due to oil migration while the system was low on refrigerant. Didn't have any oil on the van but remembered I had some left over Supco 88 and oil mix I'd used previously to try and unstick a reversing valve after seeing a video by Jim Pettinato recommending it for such situations. Sucked the mix into the compressor...
Couldn't get this Turd to Shine

Customer bought this as working but needing new thermostat fitting. The wiring was such a mess with earth/grounds used as live it took a while to get it to the point I could test it. Result was it needs two new compressors...
Awkward Leak Fix

System had a leak on the evaporator inlet, was a bit difficult to fix as there wasn't much space to play with.
System Not Cooling

Thought we had another failed fan motor but turned out just to be the capacitor.
Pipe Fell Off
Просмотров 4638 месяцев назад
Seems like vibration and general malaise lead to the liquid line parting company with the drier. Chucked some new parts at it and away it went a-cooling.
Fan Fell Off
Просмотров 7768 месяцев назад
No cooling call for a walk in cooler, found the fan blade had fallen off and the motor bearings bad, suspect vibration from the bad bearings loosened the bolt holding the blade on. Fitted a new motor and adjusted the door catch.
What are the chances?

Found to fan motors to have suffered bearing failure at exactly the same time! The crazy things you see! Replaced one and bodged the other with some oil I found....

Low Refrigerant Causes Compressor Failure
Where’s the monkey?
0:35 IT SOUNDS LIKE A ELECTRIC CAR MOTOR AUDIO FROM ROBLOX :D
I want one for my house
I waited 11 years to hear this motor start. Poor thing!!
We've had a series of transducers that leaked through the wires just like that . We had to switch manufacturers and replace them . But that pressure switch at thr end of the job , oh boy ! Whenever I can I like to set the pressure switch with nitrogen , this way if anything is wrong I can see it before installing it and also less faffing around once it's installed. But man that's annoying !
Yes that switch was annoying, you think to yourself thats that, changed and sorted. Then spend the next 20mins trying to work out why it's not working as it should. It happens with all sorts of things - nothing last forever - not even the new stuff. . Anyway Happy New year, but no time to celebrate on to the next call 😂😂😂
Yes it was one of those jobs where you question your life choices!
Thanks again heavy diesel interesting documentation cool Video only one what model feature is the meter awesome cool
The leak detector is a Javac 'Gas-Mate', I'll do a video on it.
Interesting! Not seen something like that before!
I've seen videos of similar leaks on eev valves on air con, but first time I've seen it.
Bloody leaking LP switch, well done Sherlock! Annoying being stitched up by that dual cut-out switch though, they let the rookie assemble that one!!
Yeah it was, though it was the first time I've had one not work from new. Will see how the warranty works out with it.
I had a brand new ranco LP switch which made on fall & broke on rise . Took my ages to get my head around it , kept second guessing myself 😂
Sounds like it was a HP switch not an LP switch?
@ exactly , but with LP bellows . I usually set them up roughly OFN at the van . HRP ended up taking it back and sending it to ranco 👍🏻
I had one that had been in service for 20 years and then started working the opposite way to how it should.
@@heavydiesel stuff like that makes me want to give up 😄
Good job well done. 👏
Excellent work. Your videos are so good!
Thank you!
Did you take the temp of the pipes before and after.
No, its usually really obvious when the tank is leaking as the pressure drops quickly.
Refrigerant flavoured milk. Mmmm.
Haha! Yeah they usually leak outwards as that side of the evaporator sandwich plate is thinner, I have heard of them leaking inwards but never seen it.
I love my D tek leak tester. But the rechargeable internal battery isn’t great
Yeah, I've got one and everytime I go to use it it seems the battery is flat, I should look into getting a new battery.
I preferred liquid eye sight glasses. You could see through them and they had a yellow disc on the back so it would magnify the circle.
Agree.
Yes they used to be factory fitment on the old Fullwood milk tanks, you could shine a light through from behind to see if there were any bubble etc, worked even if they were dirty.
What's the make and model of your leak detector?
Its a Javac 'Gas-Mate', I'll do a vid on it.
Looks good. The condensing unit looks a lot less conspicuous when it's panted brown.
Yeah it blends in with the wall quite well, better than the factory white anyway!
At least they left some space behind the cold room in case the drain leaks or needs service huh 😅 Btw where do you get those Appion core tools and core depressors , I can't get any Appion product over here !
It was tight on space as the room needs to hold six wheeled trolleys so was tight on all sides . I got the Appion things from FSW, I could post you some if you like?
@heavydiesel thank you so much you're the man HD 🤜🤛
Merry Christmas 🎄 HD
Happy New Year Dave!
Happy Christmas to you and yours Mr Heavy Diesel x
Thanks! Happy new year!
Danfoss crap . Merry Christmas
I used to prefer them over the Carel ones the wholesaler stock, not sure now.
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching Harry!
I hate this optyma. The old design was so much better.
I like the colour of the display but its not as easy to use or run conduit into.
It looks great in brown and a merry Christmas may all your compressors be humming away happily 😊
Yeah it turnout much better looking in brown than I thought! Thanks!
Thanks again heavy diesel Cool interesting
Thanks for watching!
New Fgas regs start in a few days now… I’m gonna be doing more retrofitting of refrigerants from now on too… have a good Xmas 👍🏻
Yeah, I need to read up on the new regs, been told any new milk tanks I sell will be on R454A which is flammable like R32.....
@ I’ve recently had to bone up on it for my workplace …. The Carel breakdown of it seems to be the easiest to digest. mn.newsletter.carel.com/nl/res/2109/shared/0/files/carel_refrigerant_scenario_2024_whitepaper_eng.pdf
@@tomasnewson6744 it's funny seeing how far ahead you guys are over the pond. We're still installing equipment on 404A in Aus. I think this year it's finally going to start getting more expensive than 448/449
@@Thermoelectric7 404a over here has been cracked down on for a while now.. you’re not allowed to charge virgin 404a into a system larger than 10kg ish ( 40t co2 equivalent ) .. It keeps things interesting, but can’t help but feel like it’s a waste of time when China are boiling whales and blasting r22 at dolphins 😄 Seen some new daikin chillers coming with 1234ze . Seems to run similar pressures to 134a
£1k for a bottle of gas! How much is a new unit lol.
Thats what they want us to do, fit new stuff thats on a different gas by pricing the old stuff out of the market. I converted this to R449A which is about half the price per kg, but I think that is getting banned for new systems soon too!
The Appion core depressors and core removal tools are pretty solid, would recommend giving them a shot! Edit: ah I see you're all over it, commented too early haha
Yeah I've got some, need to put one in my gauges tool bag so I have it when I need it.
Looks like it is more leak than intact joins and parts.
You're not wrong!
That same bottle of gas is 54 GBP by me...... 10kg bottle. R22 is 100 GBP as well, I can still buy it.
Last bottle of R404A I got was £1000.17 for 12kg!
That was a Late one. Got dark on you.
Yeah, I think it was the shortest day here so only eight hours daylight.
Had to do a newer model himmel on a mecotronic that wouldn't come off had to grind the gear box off and then grind the gear off the shaft mueller agitators are either a dream or a nightmare to change
I'm glad its not just me that has trouble with them!
Lely A2 Install?
Its a Lely tank, only one I've seen, seems very reliable.
I have a Lely A2 and i will install.
Can you tell me where you saw it working?
good clean work.
Thank you!
Good repair Heavy, I don't miss those tight spaces. I don't do many service calls anymore, doing est., nowadays.
Thanks, yeah the climbing about and working in tight spaces isn't getting any easier!
I'd have asked the customer to tidy up a bit first lol.
Yeah, its a job not to set the place alight brazing with all the junk about!
Good find.
Thanks Dave!
What are we doing with our lives eh ? 😂 I feel ya brother !
Yes, if only I'd paid attention at school!
Nice save John. Amazing how a compressor room always turns into a junk storage area🤦🏻
Yes! Especially on farms, the compressors get used for drying clothes etc
@@heavydiesel Or the farmer's wife hangs a wash line out where the hot air is venting. you show her how to wash it regular and it will forever be clean though.
I have used plumbing solder on an AC before, to fix a connection between galvanised pan and the copper drain line, which ran out a few centimeters before it went to a plastic drain line, and the original soldered joint had cracked and was leaking. Did not want to cook all that zinc off, so acid flux, and use of some hard tin solder to blob it back together again. But that solder join you can bet was done by either a plumber, or somebody with gas and no clue....
I know of the company that did it, I've moved some of their equipment before and changed the compressor oil as a precaution, found a load of solder blobs in the sump!
Cool interesting thanks again heavy diesel how the whether on your county Cool
Its been really stormy lately, had a few trees etc blown down plus a lot of flooding.
@@heavydiesel you do not want to come south for the summer heat? Only going to be 32C today.
For as expensive as those systems are I would have expected semi-hermetic compressors. At least they made it very easy to replace them. SERAP= Société d'Études et de Réalisation pour l'Agriculture de Pontmain
Pretty much all brands use scrolls or hermetic compressors now, they don't run that many hours a day unlike a cold room or freezer system. Most of the ones I installed up to 30 years ago are still on their original compressors!
Is it a sanitary tank?
Its a milk cooling tank, it cools the milk down to storage temperature and also washes itself after the tanker has collected the milk.
I have a set of torx bits that I use all the time... but I don't think I have ever used them on a torx fastener! 😂 Great for hammering into rounded off socket screws! 😂
Yeah, I've used that trick too on rusty allen headed bolts, works really well!
I like the fact that when the first step goes very easily you become immediately suspicious! 😂
Yes, been down that road before....
Sweet
Thanks!
Outstanding piping, true craftsmanship. Thank you John. Stay well
Thank you!
A heavy diesel long time on the show cool interesting
Thanks for watching!
What a job, hope you got paid well. I was waiting for the paddle to fall in the tank🤦🏻. Great job as always.
Luckily I only quoted them for the parts, so time and consumables are billable!
